From July 2016 your new weekly rubbish collection day will be Thursday.
Extra Collections
In the change over there will be a one-off delay for some residents between the old and the new collections.
You will be receiving a letter with the dates of your additional recycling and/or refuse collection.

Where do I put my rubbish and recycling?

Rubbish

  • Auckland Council only collects rubbish in official council prepaid rubbish bags. These bags can be used on the North Shore or in Waitākere, Papakura and Franklin.
  • Rubbish bags should be placed on the kerbside before 7am on your collection day. Please do not put rubbish bags out the night before collection.
  • Auckland Council’s orange 40 or 60 litre rubbish bags are available from local supermarkets and some convenience stores and service stations.
  • You can also buy council rubbish bags from the Henderson service centre.
  • The price of the bag covers the cost of collection and disposal of your rubbish.
  • Your rubbish bag should not weigh more than 10kg when full. Rubbish bags that are too heavy will not be collected.
  • Please wrap all sharp objects carefully to prevent harm to others.

Yellow-lidded blue council supplied recycling bin
  • Items that can be recycled (glass bottles and jars, aluminium and steel cans, plastics (numbered 1 – 7)) should be placed in the council supplied yellow-lidded blue bin and  placed on the kerbside before 7am on your collection day
  • These bins can only be used for collections in the Waitakere City area
  • These bins cannot be used for commercial quantities of recycling
Paper and Cardboard 
Tied up or boxed
  • Paper and cardboard should be securely tied in a bundle, or boxed and placed beside your recycle bin for collection.
  • Paper and cardboard do not go into to the yellow lidded bin
