Cancer Society Seeks Team Captains for Kumeu Family Event.
Cancer Society Auckland is hosting Relay For Life 2015 at the Kumeu Showgrounds next “Every day 60 families face the huge challenge of a cancer diagnosis, and Relay For Life is a time when we come together as a community, acknowledge the impact cancer has and fundraise to make the work of the Cancer Society possible,” says Cancer Society Auckland CEO, John Loof.
“Teams sign up for many reasons, some to remember their loved ones, others to celebrate and acknowledge a friends cancer journey and some to fight back against cancer, a disease that takes so much”.
Relay For Life is a unique fundraising team event for the Cancer Society. “Funds raised provide Supportive Care and information for people going through cancer and vital research into more effective cancer treatments as well prevention campaigns in our community”.
Whenuapai resident Kimi Bunting is returning to Relay in 2015 for the 5th time. Kimi says “I strongly support what the Relay for Life is all about – Celebrating, Remembering and Fighting back against cancer. Everyone in our team has lost someone close to them to cancer and we want to help make a difference. We get friends and family together to fundraise, we love the atmosphere, the entertainment, music and food at the Relay events and camping out together, it’s so much fun.”
Everyone is welcome to take part – families, friends and colleagues, to run, walk and join the fun and make a difference at Relay For Life on 14 & 15th February 2015. Registration is open
We are looking for Team Captains to rally their friends and family and join us at Relay For Life Franklin 2015. Visit www.relay.org.nz for more information and to register your team. Or call Lorien on: (09) 308 0494.
Quotes from Kimi
I decided to become part of the committee because I had been part of Relay as Team Captain for 3 years and wanted to do more. I thought it would be great to help out on the other side and be involved in creating the event and helping where I can!
About Relay For Life:

counsellors and the 0800 information help line as well as cancer research.
