Trees for Babies was established 19 years ago by Keep Waitakere Beautiful Trust, and the ever popular programme continues today, in partnership with Auckland Council and Plunket, to celebrate the births of children throughout West Auckland in the past year.
“The babies whose trees were planted back in 1994 will be at university or work by now, and their trees have become part of our natural heritage,” says project co-ordinator Fiona McCallum.
The 2013 Trees for Babies events will be held on three Saturdays in May. The trees are provided free, with plantings held between 11:00am and 1:00pm.
“It’s a wonderful day for the whole family – and it’s free!” Fiona says.
