PURPOSE:
The purpose of the CRP is to build community resilience to emergencies and disasters by identifying hazards that may impact on the Massey/Westgate community. To provide a plan that enables the community to respond to and remain self-reliant for at least three days without any external assistance in the event of an emergency
CRP = Community Response Plan (document – outlining what to do in an emergency and who does it)
CRG = Community Response Group (people – in charge of actioning the phone tree and opening community evacuation centres)
CRG ROLE
This plan has been designed to enable communities to respond to an emergency that affects their community. The overall responsibility of the Massey/Westgate Community Response Group (CRG) is to liaise with emergency services and civil defence to initiate and assist in response to a civil defence emergency
To develop a Community Response Plan and act as a point of contact for Civil Defence in the Massey/Westgate area.
Where possible communicate the plan to the wider community at every opportunity (e.g. community days, school events, community meetings etc.)
Meet at least annually to review the plan and test the plan when requested and participate in joint exercises if possible
