As a resident and ratepayer group we represent the views of the community to the local Council and Government, ensuring adequate resources are spent in the community that will benefit the whole community.

Trees for Babies – twenty year celebrations

Trees for Babies is heading to Massey and Sunline Park on the 17th May.

1544360_730235856999447_3324239718553765552_n[2] (2) Trees for Babies project is a special opportunity for families to celebrate the birth of their baby by planting  a native tree in one of  our local parks or reserves.

Trees for Babies is delivered in partnership with Plunket and has been going for 20 years now with sites in dozens of parks across Waitakere containing this direct tie to the people born in this area. At each event, families are given a planting demonstration and educated about the importance of trees in the urban environment. Free entertainment is provided including clowns, a bouncy castle, and face painters. Every baby attending is presented with a ‘new citizen’ certificate.

Rubbish collections over Easter and Anzac

Due to Easter and Anzac Day falling in the same week, rubbish and recycling collections will be one day later from Good Friday (18 April).

Collections will take place on Anzac Day (Friday 25 April) in areas where the normal collection day is Thursday.

The normal schedule resumes on Monday 28 April.

Parnell and Newmarket evening rubbish collections, the inner CBD, and North Shore and Waitākere business collections are not affected.

Rodney residents should contact their rubbish collector to confirm their schedule.

Cancer Society Fundraiser

voluntees at the car washcar wash relay for lifeThe cancer societies Relay for Life held at the Massey Birdwood Settlers over the weekend, generated additional funds for this worthy cause.

The Cancer Society receives no support from the Government and depends on the hands on efforts of its volunteers getting involved in events like the Relay for Life to generate  the money that goes towards the support of cancer sufferers and cancer research.
