Royal Heights Shopping Center needs an upgrade
Massey Birdwood Settlers Association your local resident and ratepayers group is concerned. Royal Heights/Massey East could be the new Te Atatu Peninsula. It needs development not into housing but a modern new shopping centre with café bars, and similar acting as a meeting place for locals. The Association is concerned about the fact that Massey residents are paying $1.89 for a litre of 91 petrol yet in on Swanson Road the price is $1.81. The area has a good percentage of homes with good views and a nice ambiance. New housing is being built down Moire Road. The fact is we do not need to take second best. Westgate is not our local shopping centre and is a dying shopping centre. The area has a great rugby club, an athletics club and a great park. We can be the best. The Association has written to the local board asking for its help to put pressure on the owners of Royal Heights shopping centre to turn the centre into the centre of the future. It is great to see residents who are keen to a great shopping centre that will become a focal point of the area with a lovely park bordering the centre for people to enjoy.

Culture at the Massey Birdwood Settlers Association
Education, keep fit and sporting activities take place at the Massey Birdwood Settlers Hall. You can also learn and practice the art of Quilting every second Wednesday in one of the halls side rooms, known as the Den. The sessions run from 6.30pm to around 9pm with Wendy Oswin showing you how to undertake the tricky bits of Quilting. On the second Saturday of every month, the Waitakere City Cake Decorating Club converge on the Hall. Demonstrations and classes are held that teach you how to decorate the cake for your 21st birthday, or your friend’s Wedding. Some wonderful hand crafted cakes end up being on display that are just too nice to eat! You can contact the club through the clubs email address wccdc.secretary@gmail.com,
